Cookson also uses TriActive's management platform for reporting and monitoring tasks. It plans to integrate the TriActive reporting tool with its own internal reports to obtain flexible reporting via Crystal Reports or Microsoft Access, DeLuca says. Publishing data to the corporate intranet will give IT managers a "dashboard" for tracking IT problems and service levels, he adds.

Although the TriActive service doesn't integrate directly with Cookson Electronics' manufacturing operations, it does ensure they aren't interrupted. In Cookson's Singapore plant, where ceramics and materials used in semiconductor packaging are made, plant-floor engineers use the helpdesk function for their PC LAN-based equipment. "We had problems managing and maintaining that equipment in the past," DeLuca says.
