Another early iSCSI pioneer, Intransa adopts a decidedly evangelical tone regarding iSCSI. In nearly every category of analysis, it places iSCSI on par with or superior to Fibre Channel, debating purported speed advantages and criticizing other limitations of the Fibre Channel fabric. Based on implementations of its own IP5000 iSCSI array, Intransa claims to have delivered every capability attributed to Fibre Channel, but without the FC HBA, switch, controller ... or price tag. Accompanying PowerPoints explain the product's architecture and business case in considerable detail. In reading the response, we got a sense that this vendor is fighting an uphill struggle--not against Fibre Channel, but against a line of reasoning gone mainstream because of its endorsement by players with three letters for a name.
