BROOKTROUT

Brooktrout Technology (www.brooktrout.com - 781-449-4100) recently introduced their TR2020 PCI platform for Voice Over Packet Gateways and Enhanced Services.

The board performs a number of key functions including voice compression and interactive voice response (IVR), as well as fax and data relay. The TR2020 incorporates a unique voice quality monitoring agent, Telchemy's VQmon (a Communications Convergence Editor's Choice and 2002 Product of the Year winner). The VQmon system, adopted by ETSI, reports user-perceived voice quality in real-time, for every call placed through a gateway. VQmon-based reporting can be used to dynamically manage the network, and to support service level agreements (SLAs).

Features available on the TR2020 family include onboard packetization, onboard telephony (T1/E1 ISDN, T1 robbed bit signaling and MFC-R2), echo cancellation, approvable NEBS compliance and a growing list of U.S. and international telephony approvals.

Brooktrout's Application Programming Interfaces for the TR2020 products provide high- and low-level programming interfaces to developers for a suite of functional components. These include: Voice Transcoding and Media Stream control, Voice and Media Packetization, WAN Access and Call Control, Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OA&M), Interactive Voice Response and Call Progress.
