SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) -- Networking and security solutions provider Juniper Networks Inc. said Thursday third-quarter earnings rose sharply as revenue more than doubled.
Shares of Juniper closed Thursday up 35 cents, or 1.4 percent, to $25.03 on the Nasdaq, but shed $1.09, or 4.4 percent, to $23.94 in the aftermarket.
Third-quarter earnings rose to $48.8 million, or 9 cents per share, from $7.2 million, or 2 cents per share, last year. Excluding charges, the company's earnings rose to $73.5 million, or 13 cents per share, from $14.7 million, or 4 cents per share, last year.
Revenue for the third quarter rose to $375 million from $172.1 million last year, the company said.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call estimated Juniper's third-quarter earnings at 11 cents per share on revenue of $371 million.
