Active Directory is half DNS, half GIS, but I know where all my peripherals are, as well as my server; they all in the same location, and as far as the servers, in the same room. Didn't Microsoft figure out that this was a bad idea with the demise of Novell Netware (after the best networking product on this side of DOS was discontinued, I'm talking about Netware 3.12)? Their Network Directory Services (NDS) is what, in my opinion, killed the company.

Microsoft says AD will simplify management, strengthen security and extend interoperability, but how? I haven't seen it, in fact I find it's the opposite, but, hey, I could be wrong!
