It's too early to know if IPac will be effective. The Electronic Frontier Foundation hasn't been too successful with legislative lobbying, though IPac will have more flexibility as a registered PAC. And IPac will face some wealthy competition, particularly from the recording and movie industries, which have a vested interest in defending their copyrights. But money isn't everything. According to the Department of Labor, there are more than 10 million IT workers--a sizable voting bloc. Unfortunately, technology law isn't a motivating issue; you'll be hard-pressed to find someone who votes solely based on a candidate's IP stance. Still, technology issues could be an influence for voters on the fence.
