MCI IT Project To Lower Operating Costs Nearly 40%: Page 2 of 2

The carrier is close to wrapping up a project that will help it sort out settlement statements with more than 700 telecom carriers more cheaply and efficiently.

"If MCI can get the records processed in five instead of 12 hours, they can remove man-hours from the equation and increase productivity," and that should lower costs, says Rick Black, an analyst at Blaylock & Partners L.P. "MCI has not operated on a profitable basis as compared with its competitors, most notably AT&T."
