As companies increasingly adopt cloud services, IT teams face a raft of new challenges. Even though they're losing control as business units move applications to the cloud, they're still tasked with managing performance and troubleshooting problems.
According to this year's State of the Network study by Viavi Solutions, IT teams are struggling as enterprise cloud migration continues to ramp up. At the same time, they're also dealing with a growing remote workforce. The global study is based on a survey of 600 respondents, including network engineers, IT directors, and CIOs.
The top cloud challenge cited by survey respondents was deployment complexity (88%), followed by loss of control and visibility (86%), and end-user experience (84%). Reliability issues were cited as a challenge by 82% of those polled.
The study indicated that some confusion about who is responsible for managing cloud deployments. While 65% of respondents said network teams are responsible for troubleshooting cloud issues, 24% said networking isn't responsible while another 11% said they weren't sure.
Figuring out whether performance problems are caused by the network, application or system remains a top challenge for IT teams, more so than managing bugs and patches or measuring latency, according to the report.
