BEA, Sun Enter Tech Agreement

BEA Systems Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc. in mid-November agreed to port BEA's Java-based application platform to the Solaris Operating System x86 edition

BEA Systems Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc. in mid-November agreed to port BEA's Java-based application platform to the Solaris Operating System x86 edition, the companies said Thursday.
BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 on the Solaris OS is scheduled to be available by mid-2004. The BEA platform includes the San Jose, Calif., company's application, portal and integration servers; and its development tool suite.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based, Sun and BEA are also working on joint marketing and sales programs.
