AT&T Wireless, Sprint In Hotspot Roaming Pact

Wireless carriers have long had roaming agreements among themselves for voice calling, but AT&T Wireless and Sprint PCS Monday announced what they claim is the first roaming agreement between carriers for hotspot access.

The agreement only covers roaming in the airports in which the carriers provide hotspot access, the companies said in a statement. Specifically, Sprint PCS hotspot customers will have access to AT&T's hotspots in the Denver, Philadelphia and Raleigh Durham airports. AT&T Wireless customers will have access to Sprint's hotspots in the Kansas City and Salt Lake City airports.

The companies said in a statement that they expect to complete the backoffice integration needed to provide the roaming "as soon as possible."
