Array Networks has announced a scalable, SSL VPN appliance, designed to provide plug-and-play secure access to large-scale enterprise VPN deployments.
The SPX series of SSL VPN appliances are based on Array's Secure Proxy VPN platform, and deliver the same network security and Web optimization features, including SSL VPN access for Web and legacy applications, identity management, an application-layer firewall, and Web-based traffic management. The new products, the SPX 3000 and SPX 2000, also feature enhanced administration and management of virtualized portals, advanced VPN address management, URL aliasing, proxy compatibility, and enhanced Windows application support.
The SPX series is designed to meet the demand from enterprise-scale customers to support ever-larger remote user communities. The SPX 3000 is targeted at the high end, providing a wide range of remote-access functions and high data volumes in a single unit. It can support up to 2,500 concurrent users thanks to new gigabyte-capable hardware, offering up to 350 Mbps throughput. The appliance's URL-aliasing virtual administration features can support 128 independently administered virtual sites sharing the same domain name, IP address, port and certificates.
According to Array president and CEO Michael Zhao, the SPX series is designed not only to provide security across the WAN and to remote sites, but to offer simple, one-stop VPN management. "This means taking into account the fit with the existing infrastructure, the network and application performance and appropriate scalability," he said in a statement. "The secure deployment of applications to remote users is not just about security. It's also about the end user experience."
