AltiGen Communications Tuesday rolled out the latest version of AltiWare for its IP-PBX products, an upgrade that integrates contact center software that previously was only available as a separate add-on.
With AltiWare 5.0 comes new modular software licensing that enables AltiGen's small and mid-size customers to turn on features such as advanced call routing and centralized call recording on a per-user basis as needed, reducing up-front investment costs, said James Puchbauer, director of marketing at AltiGen, Fremont, Calif.
Previously, contact center features were offered as a separate software package that cost about $5,000, plus licensing fees, Puchbauer said.
The new flexible licensing gives solution providers the ability to turn on features for customers that might, for example, want centralized call recording but do not require full contact center functionality, he said.
"We're letting everyday businesses take advantage of specialized productivity tools that have been [traditionally available] to high-end call centers," he said.
