Network Appliance on Thursday rolled out a pair of new storage arrays for mid-range customers, one designed as a standalone unit, the other for clustering.
The FAS920 and FAS920c--the latter is meant for linking in clusters--can be used in both network attached storage (NAS) and storage area network (SAN) configurations, the Sunnyvale, Ca.-based hardware maker said.
The new arrays will help mid-sized businesses consolidate storage, decrease system overhead, and increase performance, promised Network Appliance.
"Both products establish a new benchmark for midrange enterprise storage systems, with price/performance, reliability, and scalability," said Patrick Rogers, Network Appliance's vice president of marketing, in a statement.
The two appliances support Fibre Channel SAN, iSCSI SAN, and NAS environments, and can be scaled up to a total capacity of 12 terabytes in a cluster.
