Internet Security Systems (ISS) on Monday unveiled a new security appliance, the Proventia M30, that targets the mid-range market.
The new appliance combines intrusion prevention and detection features, a firewall, virtual private network (VPN) capabilities, and anti-virus defenses. In the second quarter, customers will be able to add and anti-spam and Web filtering functions to the appliance, said ISS.
Supporting up to 500 users, the M30 can be managed either locally or from a central console, and includes administrative features that allow managers to select only those features needed to flesh out a small- or mid-sized businesses security.
The Proventia M30 is available now at pricing starting at $3,495.
ISS was most recently in the news last week, when a vulnerability in its BlackICE firewall was quickly exploited by the Witty worm. The vulnerability, however, was not present in any of the company's Proventia appliances, ISS said then.
