Let's cut to the chase: We've revamped our Web site, NetworkComputing.com, and we want you to check it out.
Sure, you say, every Web site gets a touch-up now and then. And no doubt our site looks better than ever, thanks to a contemporary new design from our award-winning creative director, David Yamada. But NetworkComputing.com's beauty goes way beyond cosmetics. We've rebuilt the site from the ground up, adding more frequently posted content--including several daily updates--and making it far easier for you to find the information you need to evaluate IT vendors and products, make architectural investments, and deploy, manage and maintain the technology you buy.
The new and improved site makes the most of Network Computing's unique approach to producing analysis, news and reviews "For IT, By IT"--it's driven by Network Computing technology editors, all current or former IT professionals with real-world work experience. Here's a rundown of some of the highlights.
» Channel Guide. We've organized the bulk of our content according to the eight primary technology markets we cover: Application Infrastructure, Messaging & Collaboration, Network & Systems Management, Network Infrastructure, Security, Storage &, Servers, Wireless, and Enterprise Applications.
Each of these channels, hosted by a Network Computing tech editor and accessible from the home page, houses eight to 10 "subchannels" that let you drill down into specific categories. In addition to the market analyses, reviews and Interactive Report Cards you'll find here, you'll benefit from Project Checklists, and How-Tos with corresponding screencasts narrated by the tech editors.
» Rolling Reviews. Get unprecedented access to Network Computing's technology editors and Real-World Labs® by following our comparative reviews from conception through completion in the new Rolling Reviews area on NetworkComputing.com. Read our vendor invites and project specs. Review the test plans and adapt them for your own in-house testing. Read our "From the Labs" blog posts to keep up with testing progress. Download the results of our exclusive reader e-polls to learn what your peers are thinking. Finally, read our comprehensive market analyses and complete set of product reviews, and find out which products we deem Editor's Choice award winners. Plus: Use our Interactive Report Cards to create your own custom shortlists.
» NWC's Daily Spin. Every day, at the top of the NetworkComputing.com home page, you'll now find Network Computing's Daily Spin--your daily guide to happenings in the IT industry and the Network Computing labs. The Spin features daily conversation starter columns courtesy of yours truly, as well as analysis of the day's IT and networking news, and reports from our tech editors hard at work in the labs. We also invite you to share your comments here--this site is a two-way street, after all.
» Geek Chic. Our recently launched personal technology reviews have proved so popular that we're now posting at least one new item every day of the week.
» NetworkComputingReports.com. We're continually expanding the list of reviews and other Network Computing stories you can download free in PDF to read at your convenience and share with your colleagues.
» Audio/Video. Look for podcasts like NWC Security on the Go and Fast Track Reviews, How-To screencasts, and videocasts.
So bookmark the site. Make it your home page. Use it on a daily basis. And let us know what works for you, and what doesn't. The launch is over, but the real work is just beginning.
